Registration Options

In- Vanilla Registration

Vanilla has 4 different registration methods you can choose from – Connect, Basic, Application, and Invitation

  • Connect: The registration method used for Single Sign On integrations.
  • Basic: The classic registration method – user fills out a forum to register, account is created, user has access to your forum. Highly recommend to couple this with both:
Confirm Email Option: users remain in "Unconfirmed" role until they confirm their emails.
reCAPTCHA: can be enabled in your add-ons. This is used to establish that a registering user is a human, and not a bot.

  • Application: Used for smaller, tight-knit communities. The user applies for membership and the moderators/administrators approve or reject each applicant.

  • Invitation: This method only allows users to register with an invitation code. Invitation codes can be sent out by existing users.

SSO

Here is the technical documentation for Single Sign On.
SSO can be a time consuming aspect of set up, and it is recommended to get started on SSO sooner rather than later.

If you enable this later on, so long as users use the same email, SSO can easily be configured to link accounts up seamlessly, no loss of points or content

Social Sign On

Here is the technical documentation for Social Sign on. You can configure this here in your Social Connections. Please note that some Social Sign Ons must be toggled by your CSM (that’s me!)
